As a hip-hop lover, you may already recognize one of most legendary rappers of all time, DMX. He was born Earl Simmons in Baltimore Maryland to teenage parents. Of course, there are some sad stories about him where his early childhood experiences led him to a life plagued with legal issues at an early age.

Her father abandoned him at birth. Then, she was raised by his mother, Arnett Simmons who always beat him badly. The sad news came where DMX was rushed to the hospital on April 2, 2021 following a heart attack once a reported overdose. His a vegetative state with lung and brain failure and no current brain activity incapacitated him. He  died at the age of 50 on April 9, 2021.

DMX has acted in numerous direct-to-DVD movies and created a cameo in the film Top Five in 2014. Then, he released his autobiography titled ‘E.A.R.L.: The Autobiography of DMX’ in 2002.

When DMX was 5 years old, his family relocated to Yonkers, New York. He was raised in the Jehovan’s Witness community which had a difficult childhood. DMX was mistreated by his mother and her boyfriends.

DMX was kicked out of school in fifth grade. Then, he was sent to the Julia Dyckman Andrus Children’s Home for more than a year. He then returned to another boys’ home years later as a teenager. At that time, DMX began writing hip-hop music and performing for his friends.

He finally met local rapper Ready Ron who admired his beatboxing skills and two became partners. He then chose the name ‘DMX’ inspired by an instrument, the Oberheim DMX drum machine. DMX here means Dark Man X.

In 1999, he married Tashera Simmons and they remained married for 11 years and had 4 children, Xavier, Tocoma, Praise Mary Ella, and Shawn. Unfortunately, in 2010, Tashera announced their separation.

During their marriage, he was not loyal and DNA testing confirmed that he is also the father of two children as a result of extramarital affairs. Once DNA results proved, he fathered Monique Wayne’s son in 2007, he should then pay her $1.5 million.

With a career spanning a decade, he is involved with legal issues such as driving without a license and recklessness, taking illegal drugs which all stem from his drug addiction. Of course, the legal troubles and drug addiction he was experiencing had stifled his income and net worth. He was charged with tax fraud. He was also ordered to pay $ 2.29 million in restitution to the government.

DMX a cocaine addict who turned him into a drug addict when he was 14 years old. He also admitted to having bipolar disorder after he smoked marijuana mixed with it.

In 2016, he was found unresponsive in the parking lot of the Ramada Inn in Yonkers. Before being rushed to the hospital, he was given Narcan by First Responders to resuscitate him. Although the Police did not find any illegal substances in his house, an eye witness said that DMX ingested several types of substances before he was unconscious. He stated that it was caused by an asthma attack.

He suffered a heart attack reportedly caused by a drug overdose that ended up in a coma in April 2020. Tragically, DMX died on April 9, 2021 at the age of 50.

Apart from drug abuse, he has also been arrested for several cases such as animal cruelty, reckless driving, identity forgery and other offenses. He was later sentenced to one year in prison for tax evasion in March 2018. In January 2019, he was released but at the time of his release he still owed the IRS $ 2.3 million.
