David Hogg early life and education
David Hogg was born to a Federal Bureau of Investigation named Kevin Hogg and a teacher in Broward County Public Schools named Rebecca Boldrick in Los Angeles on April 12, 2000. He originally from Los Angeles and started his high school life there. Then, he was transferred to Stoneman Douglas High School as the new school offered television production classes.
When David Hogg was a senior at Stoneman Douglas High School, there was a shooting. At the time, there was the former student of the school, Nikolas Cruz, entering Building 12. The former student held a semi automatic rifle and started shooting after pulling the fire alarm. When the thing happened, David was in the AP environmental science class. He then immediately told the teacher about the accident when he heard the sound like gunshots.
A janitor asked the other students of the school to go back to the class. David Hogg always thinks that the janitor is the life safer because at the time they wanted to run to the place where the shooter was there. A culinary arts teacher evacuated everyone to the closet.
After learning about the accident that took place in his own school from online, David Hogg made a decision to post something in case the worst case happened. This senior high school student recorded everything and at the same time interviewed his fellow students that were with him in the closet. His intention was purely just in case they did not survive the accident. Besides, he did not forget to keep in touch with his sister named Lauren Hogg, who was also a freshman student at the time. Fortunately, nothing bad happened to them and all of them were evacuated from the place by SWAT just an hour later. Then, he met his father and his sister.
David Hogg career
After the horrid incident in his school, David Hogg became the leader of the United States gun violence protests in 2018. The protest was led by him along with the other ones such as Alfonso Calderon, Cameron Kasky, Emma Gonzalez, and Sarah Chadwick. He shared with the media about his life as a survivor and his opinions on gun control. The boy criticized the officials that have taken the donations from the National Rifle Association of NRA and he took part of the student led gun advocacy group called Never Again MSD. He and his sister made an appearance on The Dr. Phil Show and both talked about the incident. Two of them had a chance to meet with the other survivors who shared the similar thing and they agreed that the National Rifle Association or NRA and the politicians are the ones to blame as they support the donations for guns.
Some gun activists, including David Hogg, were featured on the cover of the Time magazine. Until now, his thoughts on guns remain the same. He is fine with the responsible owners who support safe gun ownership and he is always there for reasonable gun control. However, he prohibits the ones who are suffering from the mental illness to own guns. The media also does not escape from his criticism. He thinks that the media does not give enough attention to the black students, especially after the Parkland incident. He always encourages people, especially the young ones, to vote in the elections. It is an act to make the thing better by electing the ones who promote better gun control legislation. In addition, he is also the co-author of the book entitled Never Again: A New Generation Draws The Line, where his sister is also one of the writers.
